After a brilliant positive response for his last film Kanche, Varun Tej has planned his career perfectly by associating with Puri Jagannadh for his next film Loafer. Also starring Disha Patani, Posani Krishna Murali and Revathi, the film has hit the screens today.Let us see how it is..
Story:
The movie starts off with a quarrel scene between Revathi and Posani, and finally Posani walks out of home with his one year kid. Posani trains his son Varun Tej (Raja) as a selfish and make him to settle down as a pickpocketer in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Posani tells to Raja his mother died in his childhood.
In the meantime, Parijaatam (Disha Patani), who doesn’t like her arranged marriage proposal with rich kid guy (Ali), runs away from home. She too reaches Jodhpur and settles as a guide at local forts. One day Parijaatam bumps into pickpocketer Raja in Jodhpur while he tries to steal her suitcase and slowly they both falls for each other.
The twist in the tale arises when few goons forcibly took Parijatam to Hyderabad. Then immediately Varun Tej lands to Hyderabad to rescue his ladylove from the gang. With the help of Revathi, he started searching for his girlfriend. In the mean time, Raja finds his mother and knows that his mother is Revathi. Why did the parents of the child are separated? How Parijatam and Revathi related to each other? How Raja comes to know his mother is alive? How he tries to get acceptance from his mother? How he rescue the local people in hometown from the clutches of the villain Mukhesh Rushi ? To know the answers for all these questions, watch the movie on the silver screen.
Postive Points:
Loafer is a romantic action movie laced with all other commercial ingredients. Though the story has nothing new to tell, some emotional scenes keep you engaged. Varun has given a stand out performance pulling of two different roles – Loafer and emotional son with great conviction.
Though the story has nothing new to tell, some emotional scenes keep you engaged. Be it comedy, emotion romance or action, Varun is game for it. The amount effort he has put to get into the shoes of emotional son is commendable. Disha Patani is good in her role. Posani and Revathi did complete justice to their roles. Varun Tej’s performance and interval bang are the assets for the film.
Minus Points:
Story wise, once again there is nothing new. After the interval, the film gets quite predictable and you exactly know what will happen by the end. After the post interval part, the film drifts apart and some unnecessary scenes come in to the picture.
Climax also looks a bit forced and is also dragged out with too much melodrama. Certain logics go missing in the film as the mother son relation could have been revealed during pre-climax to make the film even more believable.
Music of the film is a huge let down as the songs do not register at all. Brahmanandam’s entry and his episode have been unnecessary added and looks logicless. The film’s two-hours run-time your tests you patience, as I found myself checking my watch more than once.
Technical Aspects:
The production values are good. Cinematography by P.G Vindha is simply superb. The portions shot in Jodhapur are extremely beautiful. The re-recording work by Sunil Kashyap elevates the film to the next level. Particularly, the BGM during the emotional scenes is simply superbb.
Editing is just average. Boring First half and the second half is some what’s good in bits and parts. Though the film was shot in outdoors, Vital did justice with his smart art work in the film. The songs, composed by Sunil Kashyap, are brilliant, especially Suvvi Suvvi Suvvalamma song will leave you emotional and mesmerized. The portions shot in Jodhapur are extremely beautiful.
Verdict:
Loafer is not a great film and you are bound to be disappointed if you go in with huge expectations. Varun’s charisma and a few interesting twists save this flawed action entertainer! Watch it as a regular mass entertainer and the chances are there that you would end up liking it.
